Forgive and Forget Revisited

In February, 2020, the merits of ‘Forgive and Forget’ were weighed. Part 1 of 2 were titled “Sometimes, Maybe.”ย Here are inspirations that update. Forgive and Forget, Healing Thoughts You can forgive someone almost anything. But you cannot tolerate everything…We don’t have to tolerate what people do just because we forgive them for doing it. Forgiving heals us personally. To tolerate everything only hurts us all in the long run. โ Lewis B. Smedes It is not โforgive and forgetโ as if nothing wrong had ever happened, but โforgive and go forward,โ building on mistakes of the past and the energy generated by reconciliation to create a new future. โ Alan Paton Achieving a state of grace, peace and well-being after being injured is the primary goal. Certainly, when harm results from a pure, innocent accident, forgiving whoever caused the problem may help, as acts of generosity and understanding. When hurt by willful negligence and reckless disregard, outrage and anger may the healthiest response, eventually leading to grace and peace. As for those who deliberately and repeatedly injure, those on the receiving end must first take protective, preventive steps, then learn and grow from the experiences while moving on.ย Forgiving those who have mistreated, misused and abused can be inappropriate and become irrelevant. โ Source Unknown Ruminating about the past will get you nowhere. So go ahead and learn from the past whatever you can, and then put it behind you. Remember, there is nothing you can do to change it, but you can use its lessons to improve your future. — Abraham J. Soul Words: Emotional Intelligence

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. โ Henry Ford In my twenties, a theory about relationships became very real. Back then, I worked in a three-room office. โClark,โ the department manager occupied a large room that claimed half our space. โEverett,โ the assistant manager had a little office. As clerk-stenographer, I shared the small reception area with โLogan,โ who handled the departmentโs legwork. Loganโs desk was behind the door we shared. One day, ‘Logan’ took over the big office. From then on, ‘Everett’ took orders from instead of giving them to ‘Logan.’ ‘Clark,’ the manager who hired me, vanished. While ‘Logan’ was very skilled at our department’s work, he was also buddies with the companyโs new superintendent. That day I learned that, in real life, it may not be what you know, but who you knowย ANDย who likes you … that really counts. Emotional Intelligence is, โthe capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.โ Of this skill, The Center for Creative Leadership writes, โSeventy-five percent of careers are derailed for reasons related to emotional competencies, including inability to handle interpersonal problems; unsatisfactory team leadership during times of difficulty or conflict; or inability to adapt to change or elicit trust.โ Dave Lennick, an American Express Senior Vice President said,ย โEmotional competence is the single most important personal quality that each of us must develop and access.โ Wondering about your Emotional Intelligence?
