The penciled message contains a business card with hand-written promise of “One free Lg Fountain drink” should I ever drive through Casper, Wyoming again. The note also delivered the two postcards I regretted not buying, plus my payment. I’ve kept them for decades because beneficence flew thousands of miles, from a stranger, above a sometimes-stingy, mean-spirited world.
