Word Rich, Cosmic Calendar

We arrive at the various stages of life quite as novices. Francois de La Rochefoucauld Astronomer Carl Saganโs Cosmic Calendar presents the universeโs existence in a single year. Here is how human life and the cosmos unfolds. Human 1stย Stage:ย Before birth. Inside the womb, life depends on motherโs condition. Universe, New Years Eve: In 1931, Belgian physicist Georges Lemaรฎtre proposed ย his proposed ย his “hypothรจse de l’atome primitive.” Later called the โBig Bang,โ this theory suggested all space and timeย burst from a single atom. ย In the 1970โs, scientists started suggesting other possibilities, such as that the current universe developed from an earlier one. The Hindu, the belief is that all existence begins and ends while Brahma dreams. Human 2ndย Stage: Infancy. Through first year, child can suck, cry, swallow and needs much care. Those who love us understand us and are available to us with an attention, appreciation, acceptance, and affection we can feel, they make room for us to be who we are. ~ David Richo During these two minutes, Neil deGrasse Tyson condenses the universe’s 13.8 billion years into twelve months. Life Well Lived #10: Stumbles & Stepping High

When life offers lemons, make lemonade. The lemonย life delivered this week wasย my experiment with sweetening the Artisan Bread mentioned inย my last post. When a reader wrote that he was going to try the recipe, I advised: Adding sugar and dried fruits didn’t go well.ย Must run an advisory in next week’s post.ย Turned out a bit tangy.ย [Will stick with muffin recipes for that kind of thing.]ย Perhaps I used too much yeast for the heavier, non-wheat flours. Hereโs how I made โlemonadeโ from that bitter bread: Crumbled everything while watchingย Chopped-Beat Bobby Flay. Put all those crumbles on cookie sheets, baked them for four hours at 200 degrees. [They got really crunchy.] Madeย granola with this recipeย Decided that was a way lot of maple syrup and honey for a couple servings [made with my dehydrated bread, it tasted like peanut brittle candy], so โฆ Pulverized remaining crumbles in my seed-coffee grinder and now have fine-ground bread crumbs. Voila! Stumbles can be stepping stones. As the philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Geothe said, โBy seeking and blundering, we learn.โ Learn what? Astronomer Carl Sagan suggestedย โSomewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.โ Yeah! And, I promise, no more Artisan Bread posts!! * Commencement Speech Transcript * Write for Succeed and Soar Succeed and Soar’s next theme is “Love.” Twenty great quotes have been chosen as prompts.
