When is strawberry season? Here in Pittsburgh, NOW [from late May to early June]. In Florida, the fruit grows from November through April. Texas grows strawberries from February through April. California also starts in February but harvests through November. Because strawberries are so easy to freeze, the wonderful fruit can be enjoyed year round.
Two shocking discoveries about strawberries made at Outforia were that the luscious red fruit is not actually a berry, which “like blueberries and grapes, are fleshy fruits with seeds and pulp that develop from flowers with only one ovary.” Yes, ovaries.
